Table Booking Confirmations on WhatsApp: Messages Your Guests Actually Read
Updated 3 min read
Across Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, WhatsApp is where people already talk — to family, to shops, to the plumber. Email is where confirmations go to be ignored. If your reservation system confirms bookings by email alone, some guests will never see the confirmation — and a guest who never saw a confirmation is a guest who feels free not to show up.
This post walks through a booking system with WhatsApp confirmations, end to end, and what to look for in a tool that runs one.

WhatsApp confirmations vs. ordering on WhatsApp
Most 'WhatsApp for restaurants' tools are about ordering — a chatbot that takes a delivery order in chat. That's a different job. A booking system with WhatsApp confirmations means: the guest books on your menu page in the browser, and the conversation about that booking — received, confirmed, cancelled — happens as WhatsApp messages they can't miss. No chatbot scripts, no forcing the guest to type an order into a chat window.
The flow, end to end
A guest scans your QR code or opens your menu link, taps Book a table, and picks a date, time, and party size — and can choose a free table on the floor plan of your actual room. The request appears in your dashboard. A table already held for an overlapping time shows as taken, so the system won't let two overlapping bookings hold the same table.
When you confirm — or when plans change and you cancel — the guest gets a WhatsApp message. If they left an email address they get that too, but WhatsApp is the copy that gets read. Your staff can also record phone bookings and walk-ins on the same screen, so the floor plan stays true to the room. You can try the guest side on our demo menu.
Why the floor plan matters as much as the message
A confirmation is a promise that a specific table will be free at a specific time. Tools that treat bookings as a list make that promise blind. When every reservation attaches to a real table on a drawn plan of your room, double-booking stops being a discipline problem and becomes structurally impossible — the system simply refuses overlapping holds on the same table. See how the booking system works.
What it costs
Reservation platforms built for large groups tend to price by plan, by covers, or both; we compare the prices vendors publish in a separate guide. For an independent restaurant, the arithmetic should be simpler: AlaMenu includes table bookings, the floor plan, and WhatsApp confirmations on the Free plan. Premium, at $7.99/month, sends those WhatsApp messages from your restaurant's own number instead of a shared one.
Questions to ask any booking tool
Whatever you evaluate, ask the questions below. What to do once bookings come in is in our guide to reducing no-shows.
- Does the guest confirmation arrive on WhatsApp, or only by email?
- Are messages bilingual — will an Arabic-speaking guest get Arabic?
- Do bookings attach to real tables on a floor plan, or sit in a flat list?
- Can staff record walk-ins and phone bookings on the same screen?
- Is double-booking prevented by the system, or by your team's memory?
- What does it cost per month, and is there a commission per booking?
Take bookings from your own menu
AlaMenu's Free plan includes the bilingual menu, table bookings on a floor plan and WhatsApp confirmations, with 0% commission. No card required.
